Hello all our friends... It has now been 2 months since the Independance Day celebration but the buzz is still heard and felt around Melbourne! What an amazing night... We had wonderful food, awesome music, spectacular dancing and a return to the stage by the original Queen of the Salsa scene in Melbourne - Ofelia!!! We truly celebrated our Bicentenary of Independance in grand style. CCOV would like to thank our sponsors - latinlover.com; Melbourne Latin Dance; Casa Iberica; Ubiworld TV; 3ZZZ; Carrick; William Angliss - but most importantly, YOU! To all the people who came along to this wonderful event and sang with such pride and honour our National Anthem. Without YOUR support, this event could not take place so once again THANK YOU!!!! Keep checking this blogspot to see where we will be next.... See you there! Welcome to our blog....

Hello and welcome to the updated webpage/blog of the Colombian Community of Victoria! We truly appreciate you continued support throughout the year. In 2009/2010, CCOV has had many achievements that we are very proud of. Our Futsal competition was a wonderful success as many people gathered to watch these futsal teams battle for the top place. Congratulations once again to Media de Cristal! The annual Independence Day party was a massive success. Over 380 guests joined us in singing our national anthem with pride and enjoyed the wonderful music of Bahia and Songosorongo. Our own folkloric dance group - Sabor Colombiano - showed the public how beautiful our culture truly is. We wrapped up 2009 with a very scary Halloween dance! The people who came along went to so much effort with their costumes that it really made the night unforgetable.
As we blog, the CCOV comittee is fine tuning this years major event - the Bicentenary of Independence Gala! Please come along to celebrate this proud moment with us. For those of you who are Colombian, this is your chance to celebrate your country's history here in a foreign land where you can sing our anthem with a tear in your eye and pride in your heart. And those of you who love Colombia because of it's history, music, dance, art or people, come and join us here in this multicultural nation and embrace the beautiful culture of Colombia.

The Colombian Community of Victoria represents integrity in this multicultural country through assisting and supporting each other. Uniting as one identity and integrating in the greater Australian community will give us the opportunity to extend a hand of compassion to the underprivileged children of Colombia. This is achievable with our solidarity and dedication.
